The 112 SOS Mobile App is an initiative by Govt of India, to aid emergency response activities. During an emergency, the app sends alerts with the user's details (name, age, emergency contacts) and location information, along with a generated call to 112 to the State Emergency Control Room and the person’s emergency contacts. Currently, the app has been launched in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu states.
It provides a 24/7 effective response system that involves local volunteers (citizens) to provide efficient emergency response services.
It includes four alert options - Police, Fire, Medical & Others.
