  • Why is technology vital for NPOs

Technology is aiding change-makers the ability to do things faster, in a more economic fashion. Solutions like data collection and storage tools, communication tools, internet aided fundraising etc are becoming instrumental in changing the way some NPOs function.

At least one part of an NPO’s work these days involve some kind of technology solution mixed into it. Be it the use of an app that allows its staff to collect information from stakeholders, manage financial records or data of beneficiaries, or a website that showcases NPO activities that could motivate donors, there are easy tech solutions that can create a huge impact. With technological solutions coming up every day, NPOs can now envision a future where their processes are made simpler, their reach higher and impact - larger.   Any NPO can now easily adapt solutions from the myriad available online, either free of cost or at highly discounted rates.

Technology solutions even help with efficiency, making tiresome, timeconsuming processes easier, facilitating development. Here is an article on technology that makes things possible!

Apps for good are ushering in an era where NPOs are enabled to get things done in a few steps through mobile devices. There are now different tech-enabled channels available to change-makers to reach those in need. Self-sustaining, easy-to-use and affordable technologies can help NPOs extend their scope of work and have a larger footprint. Digital tools by Govt and other resources are now helping many villages and slums to move into a more comfortable lifestyle, with access to better healthcare, education, and livelihoods.

With the advent of the digital era, a host of open resources have been thrown open for free use.  NPOs could consider such options and use open resources and technologies to better manage their operations. Not to mention, an online presence can help in validation and ease the flow of donations as well as aid in imparting the mission and vision of the NPO.

Aside from administrative uses, technology now even helps with data security. NPOs can do away with safe-keeping and storing sensitive paper documents in large volumes and make a practice of securing their data online.

From AI, automation to social media fundraising, NPOs can access technology and support people everywhere with each new breakthrough and innovation. From data analysis to quality education, technology is now embedded in our lives deeply and the time is ripe for NPOs to leverage technology in creating impact.
